The manhunt for an Alberni Valley manslaughter suspect is over.
RCMP arrested William David Oickle, 28, in Nanaimo on Thursday night. A warrant was issued on Thursday for breach of bail conditions, RCMP Const. Gary O’Brien said.
Nanaimo, RCMP searched an apartment on St. George Crescent and found Oickle hiding in a bedroom closet. He was arrested without incident and held in custody overnight, the release noted.
Oickle is will appear in Nanaimo Provincial Court today, an RCMP press release noted.
Oickle was charged with one count of manslaughter in the death of George Ledrew in November 2011 in Port Alberni. Oickle had been living in the Alberni Valley under unspecified bail conditions.
He last appeared in Port Alberni Provincial Court in October for a trial confirmation hearing. He was next scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 26 for a preliminary inquiry.
