100 Mile House RCMP dealt with rollover, drinking driver and theft

100 Mile House RCMP responded to 69 complaints and calls for service during the past week. Below are highlights of the week’s calls.

Rolling wheel caused rollover

Shortly after 6 a.m. on Oct. 10, 100 Mile House RCMP members and emergency crews were dispatched to a rollover motor vehicle incident (MVI) on Horse Lake Road near McMillan Road.

Two trucks were being driven west on Horse Lake Road. The lead vehicle lost a tire which came free and hit the following truck causing that vehicle to roll in the ditch.

Ambulance personnel treated the occupants at the scene, but fortunately, they were not injured. Charges are not being considered in this collision.

Drinking driver

At 11:20 p.m. on Oct. 9, 100 Mile RCMP observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic fashion while travelling into 100 Mile House on Highway 97.

The vehicle was pulled over. The male driver had open liquor in the vehicle and displayed symptoms of liquor consumption.

An approved screening device was administered at the scene and the result was a fail. The driver declined a second test.

The 24-year-old male driver from Burnaby was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition. His vehicle was towed and impounded for 30 days.

Call leads to arrest

At 3 a.m. on Oct. 6, 100 Mile RCMP received a complaint of a person attempting to steal from vehicles in the south end of Cariboo Trail

in 100 Mile House.

Suspect and vehicle descriptions were provided. Police located the vehicle a short distance away and a 25-year-old female suspect was arrested.

Numerous items of property were recovered from the suspect’s vehicle, including items stolen from Clinton on Oct. 1.

The woman has been remanded into custody with a court appearance in Williams Lake for charges, including three counts of theft, possession of stolen property and weapons offences.
