Prince Rupert fire crews responded to a fire at a home in the 500 block of Eighth Avenue West at approximately 4:19 a.m, Jan. 3.

“There were approximately five occupants in the home, they all got out safely along with their pet cat,” said fire chief Dave Mckenzie.

Six fire fighters, and RCMP, arrived on the scene to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but the fire chief doesn’t suspect any foul play.

Prince Rupert RCMP spokesperson, Cpl. Devon Gerrits said he can confirm the property is not related to the house where police executed a search warrant for drugs in May, 2018.
