A man estimated to be in his late-to-mid 60s suffered what police call serious injuries after a vehicle had struck him in a crosswalk.

Cpl. Chris Manseau of Sidney/North Saanich RCMP said the southbound vehicle struck the man inside the crosswalk at the intersection of East Saanich Road and Leal Road in North Saanich.

While the reason of the collision remains under investigation, police have ruled out speed and alcohol, said Manseau. The sun might have blinded the male driver of the vehicle, said Manseau, adding the investigation continues.
