RCMP hosting training scenario at Revelstoke Secondary School

The RCMP is asking the public to avoid the area around Revelstoke Secondary School while it conducts a training scenario there on Wednesday.

Don’t be alarmed if you see a swarm of flashing lights and hear blazing sirens around Revelstoke Secondary School tomorrow — it’s just training.

The RCMP is asking the public to avoid the area around RSS while it conducts a training scenario involving police, the fire department, and paramedics at the school on July 23 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The goal is to test their plans and skills in responding to a serious scenario.

During the scenario the area will be closed to the public and bystanders are asked to stay clear of Queen Elizabeth Park, the Revelstoke Forum and the schools.

“We appreciate the support of all the actors and participants in the community for making this possible,” said Staff-Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky in a news release. “We especially thank School District #19 for providing the RSS facility to allow this to occur.”
