Mounties and the B.C. Coroners Service are investigating after a child’s death at a Duncan, B.C. motel Friday night.
Police say officers from the North Cowichan Duncan RCMP as well as B.C. Emergency Health Services responded to a call about an unresponsive child.
First responders tried to resuscitate the child, but the six-year-old had to be taken to hospital and was eventually pronounced dead.
RCMP are investigating and expect to remain at the scene today.
The BC Coroners Service is conducting its own investigation into the circumstances around the child’s death.
Police say they are supporting the child’s family during this difficult time.
