A spectacle known around the world, the RCMP Musical Ride is heading to Arbutus Meadows Equestrian Centre in Nanoose Bay.

The show will take place Aug. 21 and 22 starting at 6 p.m. on both days. It will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Parksville.

The RCMP Musical Ride is performed by a full troop of 32 riders and their horses and features precision riding and patriotic pride. Their performance consists of intricate figures and drills choreographed to music. The movements demand the utmost control, timing and co-ordination, according to the RCMP website.

The Musical Ride performs in up to 50 communities across Canada between the months of May and October. They help raise thousands of dollars for local charities and non-profit organizations.

The show will be approximately an hour long. The Mount Arrowsmith Pipe Band will provide pre-show entertainment. There will be hot food and beverages for sale by AJ’s Island Grill and The Dude’s Dogs.

The musical ride provides the opportunity to experience the heritage and traditions of the RCMP. The riders act as ambassadors of goodwill who promote the RCMP’s image throughout Canada and all over the world.

Tickets are available for $10 each with children aged 3-and-under free. Tickets are available at Parksville Chamber of Commerce Visitor Centre, Oceanside RCMP detachment, Parksville, Close to You, Marlin Travel and Infinity Print Shop.

People are asked to leave their pets at home and to check the back of the tickets for extra information.
