RCMP nab suspected impaired drivers Friday night, attend complaint at campgrounds

"A quiet weekend so far," report police of the Thanksgiving long weekend

It’s been a relatively quiet Thanksgiving weekend so far for police in Williams Lake.

Cpl. Matt Shearer of the Williams Lake RCMP detachment said officers removed two suspected impaired drivers from behind the wheel of their vehicles Friday evening during regular patrols.

Police were also called to the Stampede Campgrounds Saturday evening at about 7:15 p.m. where they defused an arguement, not making any arrests.

Several off-duty officers were dressed to the nines in their Red Serge for the Cops for Cancer dinner at the Gibraltar Room Saturday evening. Money from that event will be donated to help support families with children who are receiving treatment for cancer.
