RCMP: No timeline for update on fatal hit-and-run in Parksville

Complexity of case a factor in length of the investigation

Oceanside RCMP have no timeline on when they will deliver an update on the fatal hit-and-run in Parksville that took place in late August.

Cpl. Jesse Foreman with the Oceanside RCMP said the investigation is progressing well, but offered no further comment.

Previously, an update was expected by the second week of September.

Foreman cites the complexity of the case as being a factor in the length of the investigation.

RCMP are unable to say anything about the case as the investigation is in the hands of provincial prosecuting attorneys.

A 32-year-old Parksville man was struck and killed on Aug. 24 in the 200 block of Hirst Avenue.

Police said previously they believe that a black Ford F-250 with aftermarket modifications was involved.

The truck was seen leaving a parking lot near the Rod & Gun pub around the time the man was struck.

The family of the victim have asked for privacy and for his name not to be released to the public.
