Lumby RCMP are investigating another break-and-enter at Tirecraft on Duffryn Road in the village.
The shop was targeted on Feb. 27 by thieves who cut through the fence into the rear lot.
This comes a month after the last break-in at Tirecraft.
“It appears a number of used car batteries were stolen,” said Lumby RCMP Cpl. Henry Proce.
“Video surveillance of the yard shows a pickup pulling a flat deck trailer (with a goose neck trailer hitch) entering the lot, dropped off and later picked up the suspect.”
Police are asking anyone with knowledge of either offence to contact the Lumby detachment at 250-547-2151.
n Also on Feb. 27, Lumby officers responded to a road rage incident on Highway 6, just east of Lumby.
Police say the driver of a black pickup had forced a white pickup off the road.
“The suspect driver then pounded on the window of the white pickup and demanded he open the window or he would smash it,” said Proce. “
During this incident, the suspect screamed at the driver of the white pickup and made threats.”
Police were able to locate and arrest the suspect driver.
“There were indications this was a result of a long running dispute,” said Proce.
The suspect driver, a 45-year-old Vernon man, is being charged with dangerous driving and tttering threats under the Criminal Code of Canada. He has been released on a promise to appear in provincial court.
n Lumby RCMP are hoping for some help to solve a Valentine’s Day assault.
After midnight on Feb. 14, officers responded to a call reporting an adult male was being beat up by five youth wearing hoodies in the downtown area of Lumby.
“They ran off when the police car arrived in the area,” said Proce. “The victim was not able to provide many details or their physical descriptions. Our officers spoke to two local youth in the area.”
The victim suffered injuries around his eye as a result of the altercation, but he could not provide a motive for the attack.
Anyone with any information about this assault is asked to call the detachment or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
