RCMP recover stolen property, seize Ford Mustang during Chilliwack drug bust

Officers executed a search warrant on a Trethewey Avenue residence Nov. 17

A Ford Mustang was among the items seized by Chilliwack RCMP during a Nov. 17 bust.

Police received reports from the public of illegal drug activity in the area of Trethewey Avenue, just off Young Road near the Shandhar Hut restaurant.

Members of the RCMP’s Community Response Team (CRT) gathered evidence linking a suspect to an address in the 45,000 block of Trethewey Avenue, and executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA).

During the bust, a 46-year-old man was arrested and then released.

Police seized the Mustang along with drugs believed to be fentanyl, firearms, paraphernalia linked to the sale of illegal drugs, and property previously reported stolen.

“CRT provides pro-active deployment to emerging community and public safety issues,” said Chilliwack RCMP Cpl. Brad Rendall. “Working together with our community partners was an essential component of this investigation.”

Following a thorough investigation and review of evidence gathered the RCMP will forward a report to the Public Prosecution Service of Canada (PPSC) for their assessment of CDSA charges.

The RCMP reminds anyone who witnesses anything suspicious to contact police at 604-792-4611 or Crime Stoppers (anonymously) at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
