911 is for emergencies
The Golden-Field RCMP would like to remind people to only use 911 for emergencies after receiving several traffic complaints through 911 dispatchers over the past few weeks.
“When you dial 911 for someone speeding, you’re tying up an emergency line that could be used for someone who is in a life threatening situation or needs immediate emergency response,” said Cst. Spencer Lainchbury with the Golden-Field RCMP.
Those requiring non-emergency police assistance are asked to call 250- 344-2221.
Stolen Mailboxes
Police are once again looking for information regarding attempted thefts from the mailboxes located near Reflection Lake Road after receiving a report on May 9, that eight boxes had been damaged.
“The unknown suspects were not able to gain access to any of the boxes, nor was any mail stolen,” said Cst. Lainchbury.
“Damage is estimated to be over $200.”

Missing Youth Found
On May 9 the Golden-Field RCMP were called to assist in a search for a 14 year-old male that had went missing near 9th Street South. The youth was located by his parents a short time later.
Transient questioned in thefts and mischief
Police were called on May 13 to a report of a transient male walking near the Trans-Canada Highway, where some items at surrounding buildings had been moved or were missing.
Officers were able to locate the male, who was co-operative and did not appear to be involved. The male continued on his way to Vancouver.
More Reports of Fraud
The Golden-Field RCMP received two separate reports of fraud this week. The first incident was reported on May 13 and involved several fraudulent transactions being charged on the victim’s credit card, totaling just over $850.00.
The second incident was reported on May 14, and involved a caller stating that they were from Microsoft and that a refund was going to be processed to the victim’s credit card, but that they would need the number.
