RCMP Report: Blue River bandits

It seems these bandits thought of everything, except for one thing, video surveillance

Early Saturday morning, Sept. 3, the Petro Canada in Blue River was broken into. It was obviously a well-orchestrated plan, as the phone lines and alarm audio lines had been cut prior to the thieves entering the building. The two perpetrators knew exactly what they were after – cash, which was taken from the gas station’s ATM and safe. After only minutes in the building they escaped in a getaway vehicle.

It seems these bandits thought of everything, except for one thing, video surveillance. No positive identification has been made to date, however, officers are still investigating the occurrence.

Tractor/trailer thief thwarted

On Sept. 7 at 3 a.m. Clearwater RCMP members stopped a tractor/trailer unit for driving erratically. Upon further investigation it was determined that the trailer had been reported as stolen in Ontario at the beginning of August.

The driver had gotten a job driving for a trucking company that required him to have his own trailer. Unfortunately he drove right into police custody and he was arrested for possession of stolen property.

The driver was later released, but the investigation is still ongoing and more charges may be added.

Double dose of DUI

The week before last a Kamloops Traffic Services officer stopped a female driver and further investigation led to the confirmation that she was impaired. She was dealt with by way of Criminal Code charges and released with a court date.

Apparently she didn’t learn her lesson, as a week later Clearwater Traffic Services got report of an intoxicated lady leaving the beer and wine store in Clearwater. The RCMP officer stopped the female, which happened to be the same female Kamloops had arrested the week prior.

This time, officers dealt with her by way of the Motor Vehicle Act. This meant that her vehicle was impounded for 30 days and her driver’s license taken away for 90. Along with her car, license and vehicle being taken, she will have to pay for reinstatement fees, impound fees and other assorted costs, altogether adding up to an estimated $4,000.
