The B.C. Coroner’s service is investigating a sudden death that happened at a senior’s home Wednesday afternoon.
According to the RCMP, at about 4:30 p.m. on June 6, an elderly man fell from the balcony of his suite on the third storey of the Concorde Retirement Residence on Skaha Lake Road in Penticton.
Emergency crews attended the scene, but the man was pronounced dead. Const. James Grandy, mental health intervention co-ordinator with the RCMP, reports the death has not been deemed suspicious.
Penticton RCMP also attended the theft of a woman’s purse from her unlocked vehicle while parked in the 200 block of Main Street Wednesday afternoon.
A general description of the suspect was given to the RCMP, and during the afternoon, officers on enhanced foot patrols in the downtown core located and arrested a suspect male matching the description. During the arrest, items stolen from the woman’s purse were in his possession.
The RCMP are using the theft as an opportunity to stress the importance of not leaving any valuables inside vehicles and to lock car doors.
