Live wires

06-17-2013

A semi-trailer was involved in an incident at the Kicking Horse Rest Area. The vehicle hit a BC Hydro pole and had live wires covering it for a period of time. The RCMP said power was interrupted but live lines were sparking during the incident until the power was cut.

Officers got to the site as soon as possible out of concern for both the drivers and onlookers safety.

There was a concern that people would assume the wires had no power and get close to them when a surge happened.

People are reminded to give a great deal of room if they come up on a scene involving downed power lines.
