RCMP Report: Thieves make out with donations

When no one was looking, the male removed the donation box near the cashier and exited the store without being detected.

Blaeberry fire

Police responded to a reported structure fire in the Blaeberry.  The house cleaner arrived for the scheduled cleaning to find smoke coming from behind the fridge.  The cleaner called for the fire department and was advised that it was out of the fire service area. They then pulled the fridge away from the wall, unplugged it and used a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.  The quick thinking of the cleaner prevented the potential of a total loss to this family.  This serves as a reminder to all residents to ensure that home appliances are regularly check to confirm they are clear of any debris and are in good working order.  If you haven’t cleaned that chimney yet – this is a good time.

Open alcohol

Police stopped a vehicle on the Highway 1 frontage road that was reported to have open liquor in the vehicle.  Police spoke with two occupants of the vehicle, the passenger of whom admitted to consuming alcohol in the vehicle and turned over an open can of beer.  The driver was confirmed to be sober.  The passenger was issued a violation ticket.

Highway accident

Single vehicle collision on Highway 1 near Field.  The driver lost control and over corrected, resulting in the vehicle flipping into the ditch.  The vehicle sustained major damage – luckily no one was injured.

Stolen donations

In the early afternoon, a male and female entered the Dairy Queen in Golden, and when no one was looking, the male removed the donation box near the cashier and exited the store without being detected. The male is described as Caucasian, 5’10”, slender, and wearing a black jacket.  The female is also Caucasian, blonde , and 5’7” with an average build.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Golden RCMP.

Missing climbing equipment

A resident reported a box containing climbing equipment was stolen from their residence.  The Rubbermaid bin contained various pieces of climbing equipment, such as harnesses, ice screws and carabiners.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Golden RCMP or Crimestoppers.
