RCMP report: thieves still on the loose in Lake Cowichan

Break-ins of houses and vehicles continue to occur at the Lake

Seemingly thieves are still on the loose in Lake Cowichan.

More vehicle thefts were reported in the early hours of March 6.

“A number of vehicles were entered in the Berar Road area of Lake Cowichan,” read a press release from Cst. Grant Desmet. “Electronic items and personal belongings were taken.  In one instance, a backyard shed was entered and some tools were stolen.  Another nearby yard was entered and personal items were taken.”

Lake Cowichan RCMP are investigating both incidents and encourage anyone with information to call the office at 250-749-6668 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

“Police are also reminding the public to keep their vehicles and residences locked and valuables out of sight and to report suspicious behaviour,” wrote Desmet.

Lake Cowichan RCMP is also looking for the owner of a black Rogers BlackBerry cell phone which was found at the bottom of Sall Road close to South Shore Road.

Also, this past Friday, a car (above) crashed into a telephone pole near Country Grocer in Lake Cowichan along South Shore Road.

Thus far, Lake Cowichan RCMP are refusing to release any information as the collision investigation is still ongoing.
