Stolen property found at local residence
Officers with the Golden-Field RCMP executed a search warrant at a residence in Golden on Apr. 13, after receiving information that there was stolen property at the residence. “We were able to obtain a search warrant, and property, which we believe to be stolen, was seized,” said Cst. Lainchbury. Police are continuing to investigate the matter to determine what charges will be recommended.
Reminder regarding accidental calls
Police would like to remind callers who accidentally dial 911 to stay on the line and talk with police dispatchers. “It’s easier to explain to someone over the phone that you accidentally called, then to have police dispatched to ensure you’re okay,” said Cst. Lainchbury. The Golden-Field RCMP have responded to 38 false or abandoned 911 calls since January 1. Police would also like to remind callers that 911 is designated for emergencies only. Those who require non-emergency police assistance are asked to call 250-344-2221.
Three thefts earlier in April
Police were called on the morning of April 4 for three separate theft files.
The first report was received after an employee noticed that his commercial vehicle had been broken into overnight while parked near Fisher Road. The vehicle contained several bags of potato chips which were stolen along with two dolly carts. The second incident involved theft of gas from a vehicle parked at a local business on 11th Avenue North. Surveillance was obtained for the second instance and police are looking to identify a suspect seen in the video. The male is described as tall, bald, and slender, and was driving a small size pickup.
The third incident involved a cash box being stolen from a business on 10th Avenue North sometime over the weekend. Anyone with information regarding these incidents or any other incident is asked to contact police at 250-344-2221 or Crimestoppers.
Golden woman accused of shoplifting
A 27 year-old female from Golden is set to appear in court on May 10 after it was alleged that she was shoplifting from a local grocery store on April 5. Staff contacted police alleging that the female, who is known to police, had taken multiple items without paying for them.
Woman kicked out of vehicle
On April 11 just after 2 a.m. the Golden-Field RCMP received a report that a 34 year-old female had been kicked out of her family’s vehicle for drinking alcohol during the drive. The female was then stranded on the highway approximately 20 kms east of Golden. Police attended and drove the female back to Golden where lodging arrangements were made for the night.
Alleged sexual assault on bus
Police are continuing to investigate a report of a sexual assault that is alleged to have occurred on April 14. Police were called to the local bus station and were advised by a female passenger that another passenger on the bus she was riding had been touching her inappropriately during the trip from Calgary to Golden.
A 49-year-old male was arrested for the alleged offence. He is scheduled to appear in court in Golden on July 5.
Female to appear in court on assault charge
A 24 year-old female from Calgary is scheduled to appear in court on July 5 after police allege that they were assaulted by the female during an arrest. “The female was reported to be causing a disturbance at a local bar,” said Cst. Lainchbury. “When officers arrived they determined that she had been causing a disturbance, and she was arrested.” Once in police custody, the officers allege that the female proceeded to kick both officers.
Purse stolen from vehicle
Police would like to remind residents and visitors not to leave valuables unattended in vehicles after receiving a report on April 16 that a purse with over $600 was stolen from inside a vehicle. “The vehicle was reportedly only parked for a short period of time near the Columbia River. When the owner returned her vehicle window had been smashed and the purse was missing,” said Cst. Lainchbury.
Dirt bike collision
The Golden-Field RCMP was called to a single vehicle collision involving a dirt bike on Fisher Road during the evening of April 19.
The rider, a 23 year-old from Golden sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries in the collision. Police determined during the investigation that not only did the rider not have a valid license, but that he had been flagged by motor vehicles for vehicle impoundment, and that the dirt bike did not have valid registration or insurance. As such the vehicle was impounded and the rider received a $598 Violation Ticket for no insurance and a $138 Violation Ticket for not having a driver’s license.
Tires slashed at lake
Police are continuing to investigate after a vehicle parked at a residence on Reflection Lake Road had all four of its tires slashed sometime overnight on April 22. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Golden-Field RCMP.
Collision after dispute
On April 24, the Golden-Field RCMP was called to a downtown gas station after receiving a report that a vehicle had been rammed in the parking lot. “Upon arrival the officers were able to determine that a dispute had been going on between the two vehicle owners prior to the collision, and that as a result of the dispute one male purposely drove his vehicle into the other male’s vehicle,” said Cst. Lainchbury. The driver was issued a $368 Violation Ticket for driving without due care.
Three semis in accident
Police were called to a collision involving three tractor trailers during the early morning of April 25. “Upon arrival police determined that an eastbound semi had driven into two other semis, which were parked in the chain up area,” said Cst. Lainchbury. No injuries were reported, however all three vehicles sustained extensive damage.
Downtown break-in
Police are asking anyone with information to contact them after receiving a report of an attempted break and enter at a local downtown business on April 28. Police believe that the unknown suspects attempted to gain entry through the back door of the business which is located on 9th Avenue North. “It doesn’t appear that the suspects were able to gain entry into the building, and nothing was reported stolen,” said Cst. Lainchbury. Police are also trying to determine if an incident at a store in Nicholson the following evening is related. “We were advised that several windows had been broken at the business. Again, it doesn’t appear that entry was gained to the building and nothing was reported stolen.”
Suspension following single vehicle collision
Police responded to a single vehicle collision on April 9 on Seward Frontage Road. During the investigation officers allege that the driver was believed to have consumed alcohol and a breath sample was obtained resulting in a fail reading. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver received a licence suspension for 90 days. Both the driver and passenger were treated at the Golden Hospital for minor injuries.
