Castlegar RCMP responded to a single-vehicle accident on Pass Creek Road Thursday night around 10:30 p.m.
The driver had lost control of his Dodge pickup truck.
“It looks like it caught the side of the road on the right-hand side, they started to lose control and then veered off on the left side of the road, which was the side that had the river. So it went down the embankment and the truck ended up inside Pass Creek,” explained Cpl. Brett Turner.
He said there were only minor injuries reported and no one was taken to a hospital.
The driver told RCMP that he was going the speed limit at the time of the incident.
“From what we could initially tell — it’s still under investigation — but it didn’t look like it was anything other than driver error. There doesn’t appear to be any signs of intoxication or alcohol involved,” Turner said Friday morning. “I can’t say yes or no as to whether speed was a factor at this point. It’s pretty early on.”
