Nanaimo RCMP are hoping the public can help identify a man who threatened employees at the Best Buy at Country Club Centre with bear spray in October.

The incident took place Oct. 23 at 7 p.m., but police released information today, Dec. 6.

The suspect was being escorted from the store due to alleged previous criminal action at the store, say police. As the man reached the main door, he allegedly pulled out the spray can from his sweater pocket and pointed it at an employee, although it wasn’t discharged. The suspect then ran from the store and through the parking lot.

The suspect is thought to be white, standing 5-foot-8, and at the time of the incident was clad in a black hat, Adidas sweater, pants and was wearing a backpack.

Anyone with information is asked to call Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345, citing file No. 2018-3911.
