Langley RCMP are warning parents and students at R.E. Mountain Secondary School of a suspicious man who has been frequenting the area.
The man — described as 21-years-old, South Asian, approximately 5’11, 160 pounds, well-dressed and well-spoken — has been approaching female students near the school. He has reportedly offered a ride to students in a white SUV and offered his phone number, however the students declined.
The most recent incident took place Wednesday morning when some female students were approached by the man in the white vehicle while they were walking to school.
Nothing criminal has been reported in his behaviour so far and investigators believe they have identified him, but RCMP are still reminding students to be vigilant.
“Students walking to or from school are reminded to walk with friends when possible and be aware of your surroundings,” said Langley RCMP Cpl. Holly Largy in a press release issued Nov. 30.
“Avoid wearing headphones that may hinder your ability to hear approaching vehicles or people. Although it may sound ‘old-school’ — don’t talk to strangers. If you are approached by someone unknown to you, keep moving towards a well populated area. Always report the incident to police.”
