RCWC donates $20,000 to Williams Lake family for wheelchair accessible van

Williams Lake family closer to purchasing a wheelchair accessible van thanks to a $20,000 donation from the Real Canadian Wholesale Club.

A Williams Lake family’s dream to purchase a wheelchair accessible van is one huge step closer to becoming true after the Real Canadian Wholesale Club presented them with a grant in the amount of $20,000 on Friday.

As she wiped away a few tears, Sadie Jeff said her 5-year-old son Mason Billy has cerebral palsy and they do not own a vehicle that can carry his wheelchair.

“The company in Chilliwack that makes the wheelchair accessible vans has given me a total cost quote of $58,000,” Jeff said. “I have applied to a whole bunch of charities for assistance.”

Friday’s hefty donation came from the President’s Choice Children’s Charity fund at the store in Williams Lake, said store manager and owner Andrea Moleschi.

“Our team raises the funds during in-store campaigns, direct employee contributions and selling icons to customers that have a coin inside for shopping cart locks.”

In the past few years the fund has donated more than $100,000 to five different local families, she added.
