The Regional District of Nanaimo is renewing an automatic response agreement for another fives years, ensuring sufficient initial resources are available to be deployed to an emergency incident.
The current agreement expired last November. The parties involved are the RDN, City of Parksville, Town of Qualicum Beach, Errington Fire Department, Coombs/Hiliers Fire Department, and Dashwood Fire Department. Two more fire department societies will be added to the list, Nanoose Bay Fire Department and Bow Horn Bay Fire Department.
They all have agreed to provide fire protection and emergency response to portions of Electoral Areas F, G, H and E within School District 69.
The new five-year agreement will run through March 1, 2023. They have been endorsed by all the participants and need the RDN board’s approval to make it official.
