With schools on the verge of opening again, B.C. Transit has announced Regional District of Nanaimo Transit will increase bus service in Nanaimo to match the expected ridership boom.
According to an announcement on B.C. Transit’s website, the service change is effective Sept. 1, with the 1 Downtown/Country Club, 5 Fairview, 11 Lantzville, 15 VIU Connector, 20 Hammond Bay, 30 NRGH, 40 VIU Express and 92 Hammond Bay routes seeing an increase to service frequency.

“This seasonal service change will reinstate service levels on a number of routes to coincide with the start of the school year and to match the increase in ridership numbers during this period,” B.C. Transit said.
