As the temperatures get colder, it’s important to help members of the community who don’t have enough to keep themselves warm, said Cyndi Polovina, leader of the Realtors Care Blanket Drive in Mission.
This year’s drive takes place from Nov. 17-24 in the Lower Mainland.
“Donations that we get in Mission stay in Mission, unless we get more than we need,” explained Polovina. “Our biggest need this year is blankets.”
Donations of warm clothing and bedding will also be collected. Items can be dropped off at Re/Max (33119 First Ave), Royal LePage (33174 First Ave), HomeLife (1-32540 Logan Ave.), and Landmark (103-32471 Lougheed Hwy.) offices in Mission.
Local charities benefiting from the drive are Lydia Home, Hope Central Ministry, Mission Community Services Society, and the Mission Friendship Centre.
The Realtors Care Blanket Drive is a partnership between the realtors of the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board, and the Chilliwack and District Real Estate Board and their communities.
“As realtors, one of our core values is how we connect with and serve our communities, which is fundamentally what our blanket drive is all about, helping our neighbours live a little easier,” said Ray Werger, president of the FVREB.
