The annual Red Mountain Racers Ski Swap was held on Saturday at the Willi Krause Fieldhouse in Trail. As usual, the lineup snaked around the facility as eager skiers and boarders waited patiently for a chance at some great deals. And, like many previous years, the event was another huge fundraiser for the iconic ski club, which will be hosting the 2018 Canadian national championships in March. In a two-hour span, the swap moved $58,000 worth of merchandise ranging from skis to helmets to snowshoes and netted the club almost $10,000. (Guy Bertrand/Black Press)

TRAIL — The annual Red Mountain Racers Ski Swap was held on Saturday at the Willi Krause Fieldhouse in Trail.

“We moved over $58,000 worth of merchandise in two hours which after expenses means the racers earned around $10,000. We are so grateful to the community for their ongoing support and we are very excited about the season ahead,” RED Mountain Resort Director of Planning and Development Christine Andison said.

“In addition, to focusing on dryland training and in the next few weeks on snow training for our athletes we are very excited about the preparations which are underway for the 2018 Sport Chek Canadian National Technical Championships. It was terrific to have Libby manning the station and talking about the history of ski racing in our region as we have some very key anniversaries that we are celebrating in conjunction with the National Championships.”
