Briefly, from the Regional District of Nanaimo’s board of directors meeting Tuesday night:
• The RDN board carried a motion directing staff to prepare a report on the impact the Parksville Curling Club is facing due to the reduction and removal of the permissive tax exemption by the City of Parksville. Additionally, the District Recreation Commission chairperson will send a letter to the City of Parksville requesting it reconsiders the reduction and elimination of the permissive tax exemption.
• The board carried a motion approving various District 69 Youth Recreation Grants ranging from $500 to $1,250 supporting the Arrowsmith Community Recreation Association, dry grad, B.C. high school curling championships, Parksville volley ball club, Oceanside minor baseball and Ravensong water dancers.
• The board carried a motion approving various District 69 Community Recreation Grants ranging from $242 to $2,500 supporting Bowser Elementary School, Errington Coop Preschool, Oceanside Kidfest Society, Oceanside Building Learning Together Society and the Town of Qualicum Beach’s select committee on Beach Day celebrations.
• Director Bill Veenhof was nominated to sit as a municipal government representative for Multi Media British Columbia.
