Efforts are underway to improve communications with Lumby area residents.
The Regional District of North Okanagan will develop a public input policy for the White Valley Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee.
“There have been some questions on how we came to the decision on the spray park,” said director Kevin Acton.
“We will come up with a step-by-step process for the public so there is transparency.”
Several public consultation meetings were held about the planned $453,322 spray park in Oval Park, but some residents have accused RDNO of not pursing more input or providing sufficient information.
Festival Under Scrutiny
Officials insist they are aware of concerns about a proposed music festival in the heart of Lumby.
The annual Wild Salmon Music Festival is scheduled for Oval Park from July 27 to 29.
However, some residents have expressed concerns about camping at the site, noise, security and alcohol.
Tannis Nelson, with the Regional District of North Okanagan, says the event organizers must address those issues and go through a special events process.
“Until we get that document, we can’t provide approval (for use of the park),” she said.
