The initiatives provide funding by undertaking community-based FireSmart planning and activities to reduce the risk of wildfires.
Under the 2020 program, the regional district was awarded a grant of $150,000 for its FireSmart website and initiatives.
For this year, the regional district may submit a single application for eligible collaborative projects that includes multiple electoral areas to a maximum of $150,000 plus up to $50,000 for FireSmart activities for each electoral area. This means up to $600,000 in funding is available.
The application deadline is Oct. 9 and the regional district will be advised of the status of the application by Feb. 5, 2021.
