The census is Canada’s 23rd national census and will collect information on Canadian demographics.

“We all depend on key socioeconomic trends and census analysis to make important decisions on our families, neighbourhoods and businesses,” Bill Newell, chief administrative officer of the regional district said in a report to the board.

“Encouraging our residents to complete the census will have a direct impact on the data needed to plan, develop and evaluate programs and services such as schools, daycare, family services, housing, emergency services, roads, public transportation and skills training for employment.”

The regional district covers an area of 10,411.68 square kilometres. The 2016 Census showed a population of 83,022 in the regional district.

Statistics Canada, the agency conducting the census, will hire roughly 32,000 workers to assist with census collection. Census information is available online at https://census.gc.ca.
