After five months of floods and fires Paul Edmonds has decided to resign his post as emergency services manager for the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen.
Edmonds started with the RDOS in March, literally getting his feet wet just a few weeks later when flooding hit the area when a 200 per cent larger than normal snow pack started to melt.
“I think he will be a great loss he was very, very effective and sensitive to the conerns of people who were victimized in disasters and I wish him well,” Tom Siddon, Area D director said at the end of the RDOS board meeting Thursday.
Bill Newell, CAO, for the RDOS said Edmonds planned to open his own consulting firm on emergency preparedness.
The RDOS is currently accepting resumes for manager of emergency services. The deadline to apply is Mon., Sept. 3 at 4:30 p.m.
