Road repairs will be conducted on Elizabeth Street compliments of the city’s land sale reserve fund.
City councillors gave three readings of a bylaw which allowed the transfer of $200,000 from the fund to accommodate the capital project.
In order for the transfer to take place a bylaw must first be adopted.
Council asked city engineer Guy Cicon to choose a particular road project to direct funds to as part of the recent budget process.
Cicon plucked the Elizabeth Street project from the city’s five-year capital plan. “It was the first project slated to go so we just transferred it to 2014,” Cicon said.
The work to be done includes drainage improvements and road surface repair.
The bylaw will be presented for final reading and adoption at council’s next meeting.
