This year’s Resolution Run kicked off on New Year’s Day morning at Mill Lake Park, bringing together active runners and raising funds for a good cause.
The run began at 9 a.m. and was organized as part of a national campaign of resolution runs, organized by the Running Room.
Abbotsford’s run benefits the Burn Fund, a non-profit organization that raises awareness and funding for burn prevention and treatment.
Paul Wiebe, an Abbotsford firefighter, said the money will support those who have sustained burns with getting proper treatment, which may not be entirely covered by health care.
Weibe said it also funds a free camp where young burn survivors can come together and be kids.
Last year, the run raised $1,200 for the Burn Fund and Wiebe said he hopes the donations will exceed that this year.
Anyone interested in making a donation to the Burn Fund can drop off cheques or cash at Fire Hall 1 at 32270 George Ferguson Way, or visit burnfund.org.
