Expect a packed room at the Revelstoke Community Centre on Mar. 4 when 36 community groups make their pitch for funding for community projects.

They have requested a total of $498,707 from the Columbia Basin Trust’s ‘affected areas’ fund.

The fund supports projects identified as priorities by communities, and community input is factored into the decision-making process.

Many of the requests are for ongoing projects, programs and services.

Some new or standout projects include:

—interactive dance awareness programming by SQx Danza; $4,000

—funding for the affordable rental housing initiative; $30,000

—a roof replacement project at the Revelstoke Legion $15,000

—a climbing gym for the proposed Revelstoke Climbers’ Coop; $3,750

—landscaping and enhancement at the Revelstoke Visual Arts Centre; $30,000

—Homecoming 2014; $5,000

—spectator viewing platform at the Revy Riders dirtbike club; $7,250

The public presentations start at Mar. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Revelstoke Community Centre.

For a complete list of projects, see the attached PDF document below, which was provided by the program’s administrators.
