Revelstoke RCMP are investigating after a stolen vehicle was found parked inside the Downie Timber yard early Monday morning.
Police say security at Downie Timber called them about a suspicious vehicle parked in the yard on Dec. 21 at around 3 a.m.
At around the same time, two young men in their late-teens were seen carrying skis down Eighth Street in Southside.
“These males were not located, however during the search to locate these males, it was determined that several vehicles were entered on Downie Street, Edward Street, Eight Street and others,” wrote Staff-Sgt. Kurt Grabinsky in a news release. “The vehicles which were entered were unlocked, some with valuable items visible inside. Vehicles in the mill parking lot were also targeted.”
Police are reviewing security footage from the mill and elsewhere in order to identify and arrest the suspects. “The Revelstoke Forensic Identification Section is examining the recovered property as well as each of the vehicles that were entered,” said Grabinsky.
Police are reminding people to lock their vehicles and any valuable items should be kept out of site.
Anyone with knowledge about these incidents is asked to call the RCMP at 250-837-5255 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
