Ridge Meadows RCMP are looking for a man who tried to set a Pitt Meadows home on fire last summer.
The fire was sparked outside a house in the 11700 block of Wildwood Crescent north, just before 4 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 1.
A noise woke up a man who was inside and he quickly extinguish the fire before it caused much damage.
“This incident could have had dire consequences for the occupants of this home,” said Cpl. Alanna Dunlop.
The arson was captured by a surveillance video camera in the neighbourhood. The grainy, fuzzy video shows a man wearing blue jeans, running shoes, a sweater or possibly a dress shirt, with a wide brimmed hat.
Police won’t say if an accelerant was used to start the fire.
“Police continue to follow leads, and we are now releasing a picture from the video investigators have located,” Dunlop added. “It is hoped someone will recognize the person in the picture, and contact police with his identity.”
RCMP believe the Pitt Meadows incident is not linked to a string of arson fires in downtown Maple Ridge, the latest which took place early Wednesday.
