Four Riverside College students placed first in recent skills competitions.
Justin Smith placed first in carpentry at the regional skills competition on March 5.
Competitors were given a blueprint and had six hours to build a small raised deck with three walls that included a door and a window. Smith is finishing his Grade 12 at Riverside while he trains in the trades. He is expected to graduate high school and obtain his Carpentry level 1 Technical Training later this year. Smith has plans to become a multi-skilled tradesperson and hopes to move into the college’s plumbing program at the end of the year.
Mitchel Pye finished third in the automotive technician contest.
