Road closures in the South Okanagan during Granfondo

Penticton, and region, will see several road closures this weekend

There will be several road closures on Saturday and Sunday as more than 2,500 cyclists pedal around the region for the Prospera Granfondo Axel Merckx Okanagan.

Residents and commuters should expect delays and be prepared to use alternate routes.

On Saturday the roads encircling Penticton’s Gyro Park will be closed for the kids’ Piccolofondo event, from 1:30 p.m. (following the Penticton Farmers’ Market) to 4 p.m. Main Street from Lakeshore Drive to Westminster Avenue will remain closed until 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 14.

On Sunday, the event will begin at 7 a.m. in Penticton’s Gyro Park and travels through Summerland, Okanagan Falls, Oliver and Kaleden.

Large sections of Penticton’s Main Street will be closed from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Crossings that motorists can access at Main Street are at Lakeshore Drive (after 10:30 a.m.), Eckhardt Avenue, Duncan Avenue, Industrial Avenue, Warren Avenue and Green Avenue.
