Roads, road maintenance and snow clearing are not meeting residents’ expectations, according to the 2013 West Kelowna Citizens Survey.
West Kelowna council were given results of the annual survey at their meeting last Tuesday.
Of the 1,000 surveys that were sent out, 297 were returned. According to a report from chief administrative officer Jason Johnson, the number of responses represents a confidence level of 95 per cent.
Illegal dumping, street lighting, growth and development planning, sidewalks, economic development and building inspections were other areas respondents suggested need more attention.
Citizens who filled out the survey suggested Johnson Bentley Memorial Aquatic Centre, online services, the public library, playgrounds, arenas and sports fields are areas currently exceeding expectations.
Respondents were asked what the most important issues are for West Kelowna to focus on over the next three years. Top answers included: Trails and sidewalks, lack of space in elementary schools, economic development and Westbank Centre revitalization.
Overall quality of life in West Kelowna is either good or very good, according to over 90 per cent of participants.

“I think we’re doing a lot of things right.”
