The Ripple Rock Gem and Mineral Club is holding its 27th version of the annual Rock Show.
Along with a host of vendors selling their rock and gem related wares, there are many activities for the young.
Among these activities is gold panning and soapstone carving – a favourite event with expert carvers on hand to assist.
Also offered is the crowd pleasing “spin and win.”
Increasingly popular for the kids is the making of a wire gem tree. Gem trees come in all different sizes, from small to very large.
Children get to add gems to a twisted wire tree which is glued to a rock base.
Every creation builds the child’s self esteem.
The club hopes that these activities, as well as the more educational presentations, will encourage youngsters to pursue rocks as a lifelong activity.
The Gem and Mineral Club looks forward to seeing the community June 11 and 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days in the Timberline school gym.
