Rock slide closes Highway 3

Officials are currently investigating a rock slide located approximately 18 km west of Keremeos. Highway 3 is closed in both directions, time of opening is yet to be determined.

A rock slide occurred today at approximately 12:25 p.m., 8 km west of Standing Rock in between Keremeos and Hedley.

The approximate 150 meter wide slide has closed Highway 3 in both directions for an indefinite amount of time. Witnessess reported that the slide consisted of rocks of all sizes and boulders as big as a truck.

RCMP Media Relations have advised that there were three vehicles involved in the slide activity, sending one female to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Time of opening is undetermined. Detours available via Hwy 5A and Hwy 3A.
