Rollover on Headquarters sends one to hospital

Severity of injuries unknown

One man has been taken to hospital after a single vehicle incident on Headquarters Road, north of Courtenay, Tuesday evening.

A white Ford crossover was in the ditch next to the southbound lane of Headquarters, approximately one kilometre south of the Merville Road intersection.

“We got the call to a single vehicle MVI – a rollover. A single patient [was trapped] in the vehicle, it took a minor extrication to get him out,” said Courtenay Fire Department Deputy Fire Chief Dennis Henderson. “Once he was out he was transported to the hospital [via BC Ambulance Service] for further inspection.”

The severity of the injuries was unknown at the scene, although the patient was conscious throughout the extrication.

It is unknown as to which direction the vehicle was travelling when it left the road, and there is no indication as to how the rollover occurred.

“Not at this point, it’s still in its preliminary stages,” said Henderson.
