Police are still on the scene of a rollover Wednesday morning in Rutland

  • May. 10, 2017 6:00 a.m.

UPDATE:

Kelowna RCMP rushed to the scene of a rollover collision on the 100 block of Hollywood Road in Rutland shortly after 8 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Police say preliminary findings at the scene suggest that the driver of a southbound grey Honda Tundra may have turned left in front of a green Jeep Cherokee headed in the opposite direction.

Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey says it is believed that the driver of the Honda had taken extra precaution to avoid colliding with a cyclist they had seen in the immediate area, when they collided with the Jeep.

The collision tipped the Jeep on to its roof.

“Both drivers reportedly wore their seat belts,” says O’Donaghey, “and neither driver sustained any injuries as a result of the crash.”

“Seat belts do save lives,” adds Const. Lise Marion of the Kelowna RCMP Municipal Traffic Section.
