Rotary hosting Aman Virk Memorial golf tournament

Aman Virk Memorial golf tournament back for third year

The Rotary Club’s Annual Aman Virk Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at the Golden Golf Club on June 25, 2011.

The tournament, which fills up quickly, will begin tee offs at 11 a.m. A fee of $65 per participant includes the tournament fee, a golf cart and a variety of prizes.  All proceeds from the tournament will be donated to the Rotary Community Emergency Fund, Local Rotary Projects and The Rotary Bursary.

Aman Virk was a well-known figure in Golden, spending much of his time golfing or volunteering with the Rotary Club. Virk also served as Mayor of Golden after being elected in 2008. The Annual Aman Virk Memorial Golf Tournament is a tribute to the sport he loved and an organization he worked tirelessly for.

“Aman had always wanted something where the entire family can come together for something and this is it. The whole family comes out for this tournament and it means a lot to us,” Pavi Khunkhun expressed, “and on behalf of the whole family, we want to thank The Rotary so much for putting this on every year. It leaves us speechless to see The Rotary and the community get together for someone we love and care about so much. It is ensuring his legacy. It means a great deal to us, and the money raised helps GSS students go on to post-secondary, Aman would have loved that.”

Those who wish to join the tournament are welcome to do so by joining as a team or individual. To book your time, call Bob Finnie at 250-344-2171 or email rrfinnie@telus.net.
