Running for a cause

This year’s Kettle River Memorial Run event attracted about 60 runners.

The Kettle River Memorial Run was inspired by former Midway resident John Boltz, who lost his battle with bone cancer in May 2009. This year’s event attracted about 60 runners who chose from 5, 10 and 18km routes. Competitors endured gruelling heat throughout the morning, but were well-supported by numerous water stations along the way. Organizer Nicole Ferrier has yet to tally the money raised, but expects it to be a tidy contribution to the Midway Public Library.
