For tenants, who lost everything last weekend in the New Moon Restaurant building there has been a small glimmer of hope.
Following a story published online and in The Northern View, pledges of donations have been received and continue to come in.
City emergency services’ Calvin Grav said he received a number of calls but asked that donation offers be referred to the Salvation Army or the Transition Society.
In total, Salvation Army Captain Gary Shiels said nine people were displaced.
“Three of the [former residents] have families … one is being assisted by … the transition house. But more people than that lived there…we have helped so far a total of nine people with clothing from our thrift store,” Shiels said.
