Saanich Police have arrested a suspect in a string of thefts.

Saanich Police have arrested a suspect in a string of thefts from the University of Victoria and Camosun College.

Police report there were five locker thefts at Camosun in late November and four break and enters reported at the University of Victoria between Dec. 9 and 12.

“Saanich Police property crime officers were able to obtain evidence from the various scenes and officers from the Saanich Police forensic identification unit were able to successfully identify a suspect,” said acting Sgt. Jereme Leslie in a release.

Police executed a search warrant at a home on the 2300 block of McNeill Avenue in Oak Bay in December, recovering more than $3,000 worth of items that had been stolen from both UVic and Camosun. The property was able to be returned to its rightful owners.

Constantin Martin Arthur Mitchell, 22, has been charged with one count of break and enter and two counts of possession of stolen property. He was released from custody on a number of conditions and is scheduled to be back in court Jan. 18.
