A woman was taken to hospital Sunday afternoon after she was hit by a silver sedan on Shelbourne Street .
The woman was crossing Shelbourne heading in the direction of the Home Depot at University Heights mall at around 3:30 p.m.
The car that struck her had just pulled out of the parking lot of a nearby Tim Horton’s and was heading south. The force of the impact knocked the woman onto the hood of the car, which she describes as a silver, four-door Acura. She was taken to hospital with injuries that are not life threatening.
After the woman fell off the hood, the Acura allegedly sped away southbound on Shelbourne Street.
Police seized surveillance videos in the area and will try to identify the vehicle. Anyone with information on the incident can contact Cst. Janis Carmena of the Traffic Safety Unit at 250-475-4321.
The day of the Super Bowl, which kicked-off at about the same time as the incident, is known as a busy time for traffic before and after the widely watched game. More than seven million Canadians watched the 2011 NFL championship.
