Corporal Deb Postnikoff of the Castlegar RCMP detqachment has issued a press release in regard to a Feb. 24 credit union hold-up in Salmo
Salmo RCMP had reportedly received a complaint of a bank robbery alarm at the Kootenay Savings Credit Union located on Highway 6 in Salmo, BC. The alarm had kicked in just before 6 p.m.
“Salmo, Nelson and Trail RCMP members responded, however, the suspect had fled on foot prior to police arrival and has not yet been arrested,” Corporal Postnikoff reported. “The male entered the bank just prior to closing and brandished a firearm. He was able to get away with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured during the incident.
“The male suspect is described as Caucasian, 5′ 6”, 150 lbs, and was dressed in black pants, a new looking purple ski jacket, black mask, with a hood also pulled down over his head/face.
“RCMP Forensic Identification Services attended the scene. Salmo Detachment and Kootenay Boundary GIS are continuing with their investigation into this serious incident. Police are seeking the assistance from the public on any information relating to this offence and are urged to contact CRIMESTOPPERS at 1-800-222- TIPS (8477) or Salmo Detachment at 250-357-2212.”
