Salmon Arm dental hygienist joins in Gift From the Heart Day

A gift of no-cost dental hygiene services across Canada

  • Apr. 18, 2018 12:00 a.m.

On Saturday, April 7 Liz-Ann Munro Lamarre from the Smile People Dental Hygiene clinic participated in Gift From the Heart Day along with many other dental hygienists across Canada.

Gift from the Heart Day is an annual national event, where participating dental hygienists throughout Canada offer a day of no-cost dental hygiene services to those who otherwise cannot access this essential service. The first Gift From the Heart Day was in 2009, to highlight the number of people in Canada today who still cannot access basic dental care.

In 2018 alone over $200,000 in services by Dental Hygienists in Canada were donated. Many thanks to the team of Tara Hogan, Bonnie Petersen, Fiogar Munro and Rosemarie Serink for volunteering their time and services.

It was the Smile People Dental Hygiene Clinic’s 9th year participating. The next Gift From the Heart day will be on April 6, 2019. Book soon to avoid missing out.

A version of this story in the print issue of the Observer incorrectly identified this initiative as Smile Day, a separate event hosted by the clinic to bring public awareness to the many people who are unable to access dental care in Canada. The Observer regrets the error.
